Vegetable Pulao

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup basmati rice
  • 1/2 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, beans), chopped
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp ghee or oil
  • Salt, to taste

Method

  1. Wash the rice thoroughly under cold water and soak for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat ghee in a pot, add cumin seeds and bay leaf.
  3. Add chopped vegetables and sauté for a few minutes.
  4. Drain the rice and add it to the pot along with turmeric, garam masala, and salt.
  5. Add 1 cup of water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover. Cook until rice is fluffy and water is absorbed.
