Lentil and Spinach Dal

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup yellow lentils (moong dal)
  • 1 cup spinach, washed and chopped
  • 1 small tomato, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ghee or oil
  • Salt, to taste

Method

  1. Wash the lentils thoroughly and cook with turmeric and 1 cup water until soft.
  2. In a separate pan, heat ghee, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter.
  3. Add minced garlic and sauté until golden.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until soft.
  5. Add the cooked lentils and chopped spinach, simmer for 5 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt.
